scale.. 1 unit = 1 metre?

hello,

i seem to recall reading somewhere that 1 Houdini unit = 1 metre, can anyone please confirm?

so a 3 x 3 x 3 box is 9 cubic metres

Yup it is. Units are 1m and 1kg.

What I would like to know now this scale subject has been brought up > Does scale matter for the simulation side of things. Apart from of course using great values to drive things. Will a large scale scale have an impact on calculating volumes / pops / dops.

the 1 meter thing is only for DOPs IIRC - see Edit > Preferences > Hip File Options
SOPs units are whatever you want them to be…but think hard before you pick a unit especially if you're bringing things over from Maya etc…

OK thanks.. clearly working to a scale helps with modeling, but I was also thinking about light and how scale might affect the realism of the light (this might not be the case, especially for environment or distant lights).
