Olaf is correct. Vertex colors (Cd) should come across. Additionally, if you can't use vertex colors, you can maybe utilize other uv channels (uv2 and up) or normals (N). These should all come across. You can also store your data in textures (ogl_texN or map, color or alpha planes) of a SHOP material applied to the object. In this case, material will be generated on UE4 side and all textures will be hooked up - you'd have to modify the material and add your custom sampling logic.
You'd also have to do it one frame at a time, perhaps have a parameter which controls which frame is being cooked. Since Houdini simulations are not really supported inside UE4 (limited support in playmode and that's probably not what you want).

You would have to modify plugin code. The way to do this would be to create Houdini actor (which has Houdini component) and manipulate parameter functions on the component. But like DASD said, there's no direct way of doing it.

This has been filed as an RFE afaik, and yes there's no support for fbx blend shape export afaik (again).

Houdini is able to import ply files through import->geometry or you can put down a file sop node and import your ply through that.

We are in the process of adding it to the installer and we will add it in the few upcoming days. But you should be able to build it yourself from our source if you need it ASAP.

Hello. Are you trying to package a game? If so, then at the moment we do not ship UE4 Game modules, only UE4 Editor ones. You would have to build those yourself (UE4 Game target).

Hello!
I am sorry to say, but we have not started this work yet. So baking separate meshes and then assembling them into a single destructible mesh is the only option at the moment. Having said that, we have a big interest from several clients and this RFE came up several times and it is quite likely we will start work on this feature soon.

You are possibly running in the issue of our Houdini installer not being able to install Unreal plugin to a custom location. It's a known limitation of the installer which we use. At the moment we assume that you install Unreal Engine to the default c:\ Program Files location. In that case everything should work, provided you selected ‘install Unreal Engine plugin’ option in the installer.
We are going to look into fixing the installer, but it's not very high on our priority list.

Both legacy otl/otlc and hda/hdalc files should work. Most likely the plugin is not loaded or is disabled. Please verify it is installed by inspecting the project settings and seeing whether there's a Houdini Engine entry there; if it is there, please verify that the versions match.

this feature is now implemented. Is that correct?
The typical way to get the reference path would be to right click the Object in the UE4 editor content browser, and select “Copy Reference”, right?
