I just bought three tuts from CmiVFX. Don't have time to watch them now but after looking at them briefly I know that they are real good as knowledge base. Definetely you will know how to use SSS and render after seeing them.

BTW. Jim, is this printScreen from your HoudiniModels gallery shows what I think it shows ? Cos I see there something that looks like five fingers and one is showing, I guess, word on F*** .

Anyway, here are two ways to fix this fast. Further you can use $NVTX > 4 to group and select this poly with missing slices.

Actually it's that easy
It just does't matter. Still zero means first option in menu and one means second option in menu.
In attached otl I just made RMB+copyParameter and then pasted it into action slot/menu of visibilitySOP.

Just make switch(or if you prefer menu) on you asset ,copy paramater and paste it as reference into action slot of visibilitySOP.

You can use something like this “opset -b on opobj/geo1/polyextrude1” but I failed (It's 3 AM where i live so this maybe the case .) to make this work in script menu, works only in textport. Maybe somebody knows a way to join this with if expresion or something similar.

I will figure out at the moment - is Houdini right for me .
My advice, start from free tutorials that you can find here or at 3dbuzz (and I think Cardan has some free tuts to watch) before you decide to buy tutorials from other sites.

Reason for this is the same as for rand() Houdini function. It generate random number but from the same value it always gives you the same output. Change one value of your vector and you will get different output. It's not full random function.

If you apply this metod to picture below primitive 0 will be where point zero starts, prim 4 where point 4 starts and so on. There will be no prim 8 because it has beginning but no end so it doesn't exist. Worse if you dont have points sorted nicely like here.

I used it before in one of my tools. I supose it was Bridge Polygon tool.
