I am traveling a lot, so I would like to have houdini indie on both my workstation as well as my laptop. I don't need to run them simultaneously.

I saw the mentioning of a floating license:http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1206 [sidefx.com] but cannot find any other info.

Does anyone know where to find more information about this?

Thanks, Robert

The floating licenses are for commercial licenses. Indie licenses are node-locked to one machine.

You can see comparisons here. The licensing and pricing section shows which versions support floating (labelled as local and global access in the chart) licenses:

No it doesn't exist; they're just saying “If it did exist, here's how much I'd pay for it.”

Me too and I would even pay up to 500 if it'd support 3rd party renderers (with limited resolution)….

For an extra $100, you could run it on both machines at the same time
