changing display colors in Houdini?

Hi,
How, and where, can one change the default color settings for Houdini?
I'm not talking about the color scheme preference, but basic stuff like wire colors for selected and non-selected geo.
Colors for points, polygons etc. in selected or non-selected state etc.
Softimage, Maya etc. will let you configure most of the colors used for elements.
I found some old posts on this, but it seems the files for this have been moved/renamed/changed after a certain version of Houdini.
cheers!
Rob

Hi,
There's no setup files for this in the user dir? It's a bit tricky to start fiddling with the H system files.
Can this all this be changed, and linked to a scheme? If so, where can I find that in the docs?
And is there a way to move all this to the user folder, or better… a network folder?
imho there should be some basic tool to tweak a bunch of colors quickly. I have set up Softimage and Maya to have more or less the same UI colors regarding geo and selections. It helps with the switching between apps visually.
cheers!

How are the .hsc color schemes and the 3DSceneColor files linked? It looks like one needs the other?
rob
p.s. I have never seen such a massive list of UI settings within just two files…. ;-)
rob
Edit: I tried placing the files in the user /config folder and edit them. Houdini doesn't see the changes made.
Edited the original file 3DSceneColor.dark with some changes, but Houdini doesn't see them either.
So it looks like there's something else overriding things.
I have to say this is quite cumbersome just to tweak some basic UI color changes.

One step further here.
Just found out that the UI and viewport schemes are not locked to one another, so you can set them in two different schemes.
So the “Edit>Color Settings>Color Scheme>Houdini Dark” does something different than the “D>Background>Color Scheme>Dark” viewport option.
Changes in the 3DSceneColors.dark file will only show up when the latter is set to the file changed in your user/houdini/config folder..

OK,
First steps here
I also tweaked some of the viewport settings (mostly visibility stuff), this is saved in a ‘Visualizers’ file.
3DSceneColor.dark file, copy into user/Houdinix.x/config folder [rowumedia.nl]
Visualizers file, copy into user/Houdinix.x root folder [rowumedia.nl]
rob
P.S. it's a v0.1, so stuff could break something somewhere…..
And if someone can point me into the right direction for the yellowish overlay color for the hover, that would be great!

Why do I definitely remember of a Python panel proof of concept editor that did just this quite conveniently?
EDIT: Yes, this one: http://www.sidefx.com/forum/topic/42002/#post-188878 [sidefx.com]

Doh!
But useful.
It only looks the python panel is reading the houdini native files, and not the adjusted user folder files.
It would be nice to have the user files opened, instead of the native files.

P.S. @twod: There's a python panel for this

So, in the LOCAL help, go in the help to this link http://archive.sidefx.com/docs/houdini15.5/ref/windows/pythonpaneleditor [archive.sidefx.com]
At the very bottom, in the examples section, there's the Viewport Color Editor example. Click Load and it'll be available in the Python Panel Pane.
