Maybe i am understanding his set up wrongly. In the video he was able to source particles from the profile of the teapot… While my example file still had lots of stray particles on the body of the teapot, i suspect our numeric values inside the vopsop are different.
Plus his particles only emits off the teapot's profile which is visible to the camera, do i have to perform some sort of backface culling?
Hope i dont sound confusing…
Also, thank you tamte for replying!

Good morning,
was reading up on this page and tried to replicate his scene.
http://adamswaab.wordpress.com/2010/02/23/houdini-particle-aura/ [adamswaab.wordpress.com]
Not being a vop expert, i tried to get as far as i could. I attempted to source particles using the ‘emit attribute’ calculated within the vopsop.
Frankly don't have a solid understanding about the calculation happening within it. Would be awesome if someone share some insight!
Thank you.

Hey,
look under Contrainer Tools shelf, there's Paint Fuel and Temperature tools to do what you want. Then point to the fuel and temperature fields in the inside autodopnet > pyro > initial data tab. Maybe shelf tools will do it for the user but am unsure, good luck!

You're using apprentice version of Houdini right?
I am pretty sure you will get only .hipnc format unless you purchased the commercial license.

My memory tells me “Shredding” on the pyrosolver would help get the streaky look, I have not worked on flames often so I could be wrong… ><
edit: Also recently read that scene/object scales plays a part when performing POP/DOP simulations, I would try scaling up the source to see if it helps.
Good luck!

Hi guys,
I am getting shadows of both my sphere and grid (assigned with Shadowmatte shader) in the render below, I only want to have the shadow of my sphere. Making the grid a phantom makes both objects' shadows disappear.
Anybody can help me get around this?

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Physically Correct Lights (Intensity)

Did this question ever pop in your head?
This had bothered me for awhile. When lights are set to physically correct, their intensities need to be high (like 1000^ or even more if the light is faraway from the scene) in order to see any light in the scene. Do artist increase the intensity as high as possible until they get the desired look or are there rules to follow?
Other packages will also have multipliers, does different package generally calculate lights the same way?
It will be awesome if someone can share related resources!

I am understanding this much better now!
Baking the gamma in is this checkbox in the screen-cap?
That's what i did when i saved both of the images above.
I was told simply typing 2.2 into mplay doesn't bake it but setting this when saving out images bakes it.
