Just in case anyone runs into a similar issue. Posting the solution I used. Went back to the original unpack and used the cracktransform to directly get the rotation values from the primintrinsics. This worked much better.
matrix m = primintrinsic(0,"packedfulltransform", @ptnum);
@rot=cracktransform(0,0,1,{0,0,0},m);

@rot=cracktransform(0,0,1,{0,0,0},m);

So, I did a point wrangle:
vector vec = set(0,0,1);
v@rot=qrotate(@orient, vec);
This does convert things to a vector 3. Not sure my unreal data looks like it's matching up exactly, but that's what I needed to see.

I'm wanting to convert the orientation attribute to a rotation attribute. The purpose is so that I can check the attributes coming from unreal and compare. Any idea how to do this?

All of a sudden Houdini stopped displaying geometry in the viewport. Any ideas what could cause this. I’ve played with clipping planes, rebooted Houdini and the machine. Reset preferences and updated gpu nvidia drivers. I’ve also checked the file on another machine and it displays ok there. I’ve also tried to just load simple geometry. Weird thing is I can see vdbs but not geo in viewport. I can rop out the geo I can’t see ok and load it into Maya just fine. I also downloaded and installed H19. Same thing. Any other ideas?

So I got it sorted. Thought I'd post just in case anyone else runs into this. For the volumeSource node I just needed to change the Source Volume box to surface, since this is how the attribute was generated in the vdb. So was just a name issue. Also, worked for the pyrosolver node.

Following a tutorial and the volume source works for them but not me. Any ideas why. I even tried to drop down a pyrosolver to see if that would help. No luck. See attached. Any help is appreciated.

Meshing a point cloud.
I'm familiar with vdbs, particle fluid surface, & point cloud iso. I'm more wanting to see if it's possible to build a mesh based off of the points present than coming up with an interpretation if that makes sense.
I played around a bit and seemed to make good progress. But got stuck on the same primitive getting made. Not sure if this is the best approach or if there is a clever way around the infinite loop. See attached and if anyone has any clever ideas, I'd love to hear. Thanks in advance.

I was watching the Recursive Voronoi tutorial. https://www.sidefx.com/tutorials/recursive-voronoi/ [www.sidefx.com]
Part of the expression he used is the detail expression which I looked up and it sounds pretty straight forward. However, part of the expression he used is “(detail(-1,”iteration“,0)”. My question is in regard to the -1. Why -1? Thanks for helping me understand what's happening here.

Sorry if this is obvious. But how does one set up a lattice deformer? Kinda like maya’s Lattice deformer.

Hey thanks so much for the response. I have a rather large scene that I need this in…So I tried to create a simple example file. I created a copies attribute to equal the numprim. Maybe a little redundancy here but its nice to see it in the geo spreadsheet. Anyway, It would be awesome to have this copies attribute drive the Total Number channel in the copy transform node. So as the sphere's resolution increases so does the number of copies. Anyway, I hope that makes sense and keep me posted if you know how something like this might be achieved.

How do you reference attribute values in a channel? Kind of like copy and paste relative reference but referencing attribute values instead. Thanks so much in advance.
