Hey guys,
I have a scene, I have camera, the viewport render is done using the camera. However, when I try to render to Disk or to MPlay, I always get the error:
No cameras found in the USD file
I tried everything...I cannot submit the hiplc file, it's a huge simulation data, etc.

It's a JSON key-value list, apparently. I've sent it via mail

I've got issues too. For me AV_Initialize fails, when I check the error it says:
Python error: Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<stdin>", line 41, in <module>
File "labs::Sop/av_initialize::4.0, PythonModule", line 41, in log
File "C:\PROGRA~1\SideFX\HOUDIN~1.562\python27\lib\subprocess.py", line 394, in __init__

File "C:\PROGRA~1\SideFX\HOUDIN~1.562\python27\lib\subprocess.py", line 644, in _execute_child
startupinfo)
TypeError: environment can only contain strings
Unfortunately a known bug I have known about for some time The support tickets that have been opened about it don't reply to my questions, which has made it impossible to fix for me. If you could answer that question instead that'd be great!
Could you tell me what the value of the "Environment" parameter found under the advanced collapsible menu on the AV Photogrammetry says?
Is it returning something sensible, or is it erroring? If it looks sensible please copy the entire contents and save it in a txt and send it to me (Click on the string inside the parm, hit control+a, then copy) Please email that txt to support@sidefx.com!

Hey
I have the attached render, and I have a quite annoying issue. If I grab the renderer as an image or a file rendered with the same renderer, they look different. The rendered image is 32bit exr file, so color depth is OK. In the renderview the colors look like as the right side of the image
Obviously I miss an important step!
Thanks a lot for any help!

Hello guys.
I'm a photographer, and I use Houdini to add elements to my photos. I'd like to create an invisible sphere with splashing fluid inside, but I ran into a problem, fluid is going through the collision model. I have created a sphere and boolean it with a larger version to create a quite thick shell. The fluid is going through of it very nicely, but this is not what I am looking for
I'd appreciate any help guys, I'm still a newbie in Houdini, and although I ran through the forum looking for solutions, none of them helped me.
Cheers,
Szabolcs

Hey guys!
Could you please help someone? I'm a photographer, and sometimes (like now) I'd like to mix 3D environments with my photographed living models. I use a stand-in to represent my model in the scene, and I'd like to render the shadow of the stand-in without the object itself. Is it possible? I tried matte-shadow, but unfortunately, it renders the object as a black matte, which I don't need (desperately don't need )
Cheers, happy bunnies, and stay home!

Hey guys,
I noticed, that many UV features are not working properly, or it's user error.
I have a piece of geometry, which is a perfect candidate to rectify, but Houdini doesn't rectify it. Also, If I try to use the align vertices along with U or V direction, it wouldn't work. Did anybody experience the same? Or am I missing something?

Hey guys
Is it possible to connect textures (and extracted values) to the principled shader? Like I have a texture with Metallic in the alpha channel, and I need to split the texture into RGB and A and would like to connect to the respective ports of the principled shader, but on the viewport I see no change. When I add the textures on the textures tab, it's OK, but then I can't split up the texture into RGB and A. At the moment it's not an option to build up the shader on my own
Thanks in advance
Szabolcs

Hi
Is it possible to control the scale of the Sweep SOP with expression? I'd like to create roots, and the longer the curve, the thicker the scale. Apparently I cannot add expression to the Scale parameter.

I don't think any screenshot would help at all, because I'm asking about others workflow. As I said I'm coming from Maya, so I need to learn how to think when UV napping in Houdini.
For example, in Maya I can flat align vertices as I want, and then unfold the rest of the UV island. Or I can align any island based on a single edge selection. Etc. I'm pretty sure that Houdini has equivalent features but I don't know these. Or maybe the workflow should be changed?

Hey fellows,
I have a quite strong Maya background, and now I use Houdini exclusively for my freelancing work (with Zbrush of course). Recently I had to UV map a character. Unfortunately, I didn't really catch how Houdini is supposed to work with UVs. I used flatten to flatten out my islands (not satisfying, especially straightening is not really working, lack of advanced tools, like Maya or Modo), then I packed with UV Layout (lack of proper scale control, lack of transforms, like rotation override, etc) made a really hard time while unwrapping. The final result is less than satisfying, 59% of coverage, the island alignments are not as I wanted, etc.
I'm curious if anyone uses Houdini for game art, and what is your workflow. I have no access to another 3D package at home, so I want to exploit Houdini as much as possible.

Hey guys
I need to create a character with a cloth. She has a nice silk long glove (from the mid-upper arm to the wrist), and I would like it to have the very typical folds. How can I wrap the cloth around the arm while having the folds also?
Thanks

Hmmm. What bothers me is the fact, that when I use the Apply Fur, it doesn't add the Textured Hair shader, but the old HairShader. It doesn't have glint, and any other parameters but the old shader which is said discontinued…

Hey guys
I'm working on a still shot, and I ran into a problem with Hair. I found no tutorial on hair shading. The documentation says, Hair Shader is hidden because it's discontinued or something similar.
Could anyone suggest me a good tutorial on hair shading with Houdini?

The issue is present again. Of course, I've started checking the folders, files, etc. and it still doesn't work. Now I need to export everything to ABC open it in Maya just to export as OBJ…

Hey folks,
I need to save a geo for later detailing in ZBrush, but Houdini says the error mentioned in the subject line. Previously (17.0) I could do that, with no issues at all, but I couldn't find a way to export it. Anyone has idea?
Cheers
