I remember running spy under Cygwin in windows to save a few path headaches. It just depends on what you're trying to do w/ it I suppose.
Now days I use Ranger [ranger.nongnu.org]. It's a console file manager like spy, but it's 100% python based, fast, and very extendable.
It should also work on windows under cygwin (with python) as well, but I'm not sure.

There's also Midnight Commander [gnu.org] as well.
