Unfortunate for me I am on a windows box. Does anyone here use it ? Any useful tips ?

I think it works on Windows if you open the shell from the Houdini Start Menu and type “spy”



I can tell you Sean and Rob both use it. Likely Mark too.

I remember running spy under Cygwin in windows to save a few path headaches. It just depends on what you're trying to do w/ it I suppose.

Now days I use Ranger [ranger.nongnu.org]. It's a console file manager like spy, but it's 100% python based, fast, and very extendable.

It should also work on windows under cygwin (with python) as well, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I've used it under Windows. I'll say it before and I'll say it again… the one day it took to learn spy has saved me 154 man-days of floundering around in the shell.
