creating a speaker grill

Any ideas on what would be the best approach?

I copied some nurb circles onto a grid.

Then tried using a cookie on the copied result with another grid but doesn't seem to work well.

Here a quick example, then of course you can bevel, smooth, deform, etc … but this should get you started.

You can use the bevel SOP for creating holes. Make sure to hit play for extra fun!

nice idea! you can also vary the hole sizes by using a primitive SOP on the bevelled polygons.
