in this video (series, part 1 being done now) I am documenting my learning-project “Create a rig that automatically reacts to environment and master animation behavior” that I used to learn (more about) Houdini. Like I say in the video: This is by no way a “copy this and you're done” tutorial, but meant as encouragement to experiment, to *fail* and to try different routes.
The first video covers scribbling out the idea, creating an experimental rig, finding out what tools are needed and what restrictions apply:
The upcoming parts will cover refinements, improvements, hooking up the automatic to a user-defined animation environment and finally rigging and animating a spider using the system.
I would welcome any constructive discussion about stuff like this. Note that the first part is very basic and quite some improvements are discussed in the later videos, yet, the idea is: Learning by doing (instead of following a video step by step) :-)
