Hi
I have an object which holds a number of curves…I'd like to use one of those curves as the Follow Curve IK object…but I'm limited to using just the object itself, not a sop inside….
RFE: Follow Curve Object > SOP

OK, but you're not giving enough information. “Can't use” doesn't explain why, which probably drives your solution. You don't have to use it, it was just a suggestion from jesta to allow flexibility. You can use an Object Merge SOP in an object, reference the curve you want, then reference that object as the curve, done.

well…'can't use' is my shorthand for ‘don’t want to use'…
I have 6+ bone chains that I want to use the follow curve IK on…I have 1 geo that has the sops that build the curves based on a bunch of other stuff…I'd prefer not to have to use 6+ geo's when one (if the curve object supported sops) would do just fine…
there are, of course, lots of options for getting the job done…just looking for something less cubersome…
