Fuzzy dice… Die? Whatever.

I set the pip objects as external collisions for the fur, but it didn't seem to quite work out. I'll just send this down to Comp to get those stray fur bits painted out, right? ; - )

Didn't have the time to do full research, maybe another time I'll revisit this.

Day 12 - Fur

The Mandelplush!

I was hoping I could generate stable texture coordinates with orbit trapping, it kinda worked but was still to jittery for me. Here's the test:

The end result looks surprisingly volumetric but it's just hairs scattered on the surfaced raymarch geometry, here it is seen from the side:

I'm hyped to abuse this setup with other fractals!

Spiderboi

Edit: Attached community HIP files.
Extras Used: Octane Render, HDRI Haven.

The modeling is a bit confusing and interconnected, but so are spiders.

Here is the starting process of me learning about hair guides and attaching fur to animated geometry. Still a long way to go before I'll feel comfortable, but glad I got this far. This Houly challenge has pushed my brain more and more each day!

I thought it would be fun to try and generate polygon fur tufts procedurally, I'll probably come back to this when I have more time
