Houdini 21.0 Nodes Copernicus nodes

Bend Copernicus node

Curves images using handles or a captured region.

On this page
Since 21.0

This node bends and curves an image using pivot handles or a set captured region. The node provides free transformation and lets you warp, stretch, and twist your image. Turn on the Handles tool to transform the image in the viewport instead of in the parameter editor.

When Mode is Angle, the captured region forms a rectangle. The Capture Direction's line determines the lower side of the rectangle while Capture Length determines the length of the rectangle’s left and right sides.

This node provides more simplified deformation than the Lattice Deform COP. You can use the Lattice Deform COP instead of this node when you want more detailed deformation.

Parameters

Signature

The layer type that the source accepts.

See Signatures for more information.

Mode

The method used that lets you bend the image.

Corners

Use two tangent handles and one point handle at each corner of the image.

Sides

Use a point handle at each corner of the image and the midpoint of each side.

Angle

Use a set region to define which area of the image to bend.

Corners

Bottom Left

The position in image space of the lower-left corner.

Bottom Right

The position in image space of the lower-right corner.

Top Left

The position in image space of the upper-left corner.

Top Right

The position in image space of the upper-right corner.

Corner Handles

Bottom Left U

The position in image space of the lower-left tangent handle in the U-direction.

Bottom Left V

The position in image space of the lower-left tangent handle in the V-direction.

Bottom Right U

The position in image space of the lower-right tangent handle in the U-direction.

Bottom Right V

The position in image space of the lower-right tangent handle in the V-direction.

Top Left U

The position in image space of the upper-left tangent handle in the U-direction.

Top Left V

The position in image space of the upper-left tangent handle in the V-direction.

Top Right U

The position in image space of the upper-right tangent handle in the U-direction.

Top Right V

The position in image space of the upper-right tangent handle in the V-direction.

Side Handles

Bottom

The position in image space of the lower-side’s midpoint. This handle adjusts the interpolation of the bending effect.

Top

The position in image space of the upper-side’s midpoint. This handle adjusts the interpolation of the bending effect.

Left

The position in image space of the left-side’s midpoint. This handle adjusts the interpolation of the bending effect.

Right

The position in image space of the right-side’s midpoint. This handle adjusts the interpolation of the bending effect.

Capture

Bend Angle

The angle in degrees to bend the image.

Capture Origin

The center point of the source capture line (the Capture Direction).

Capture Direction

The normal of the line along which to apply the Bend Angle.

Capture Length

The length in image space of the Capture Direction's vector. Higher values result in a larger region of space that receives the partial transforms.

Note

This value shouldn’t be 0 because then there’s nothing to bend.

Deform in Both Directions

Applies the Bend Angle in the direction opposite to the Capture Direction.

Inputs

size_ref

A representative layer that determines the size of the output image and controls the metadata.

source

The source layer to bend.

Outputs

bend

The layer with bending applied.
