Vignette Copernicus node

Darkens the corners of an input layer.

On this page

This node adds vignetting to an input layer, which darkens the corners of the image. The node reduces the brightness towards the middle of the image to emphasize the center.

For example, use this node when you want to frame the center of an image or add artistic effects that mimic an old-fashioned camera lens.

Parameters

Signature

The layer type that the source accepts.

See Signatures for more information.

Mask

The amount of the new value to mix in with the original value. Higher values mix in more of the new value. Lower values mix in less of the new value.

The default value is 1, which means this node uses only the new value. See Mask for more information.

Brightness

The scale factor to control how bright or dim the vignette is. Higher values increase the brightness. Lower values decrease the brightness.

Shape

The shape of the vignette.

Round

The darkened corners create a circular shape around the center.

Rectangle

The darkened corners create a rectangular shape around the center.

Blend

Blend between the Round and Rectangle outputs.

Circle Radius

When Shape is Round or Blend, this is the radius of the vignette. Higher values shrink the vignette outwards towards the corners, while lower values expand the vignette inwards towards the center.

Circle Scale

When Shape is Round or Blend, this is the non-uniform scale of the vignette. This value is useful when your layer’s aspect ratio isn’t 1:1.

Rectangle Size

When Shape is Rectangle or Blend, this is the size of the vignette.

Round Corners

When Shape is Rectangle or Blend, this is the amount to round the corners of the rectangle. A value of 0 results in a sharp-angled rectangle.

Blend

When Shape is Blend, this is the amount to blend between the Round and Rectangle shapes. A value of 0 outputs only the Round values, while a value of 1 outputs only the Rectangle values.

Center

The center of the vignette in image space.

Tip

Click and then click a location in the image to set the Center.

Blur

The amount to blur the vignette. Higher values expand the blur radius outwards to smooth the vignette. Lower values contract the blur radius to sharpen the vignette.

Shape Ramp

The shape of the vignette, where a Value of 1 represents the black areas. This parameter’s output is noticeable only if your vignette is somewhat smooth (blurry).

See Ramp parameters for more information.

Inputs

source

The original layer to which to apply the vignetting.

mask

An optional per-pixel mask amount that’s scaled by the Mask parameter.

Outputs

vignette

The layer with the vignetting applied.

shape

The vignette mask. For example, use this output to apply effects (such as Streak Blur) to the same region of the image.
