Despill Copernicus node

Removes color spill from an input layer.

On this page
Since 22.0

This node despills an input layer, which removes color spill from the layer. This color spill is often a green or blue cast that occurs when chroma keying.

Note

The Despill COP doesn’t apply the alpha. This means the alpha behaves the same for premultiplied and straight images.

For example, use this node when you're trying to composite green or blue screen footage onto something else and your original plate has green or blue spill.

Use the Color Correct COP instead of this node for workflows that don’t involve chroma keying.

Parameters

Signature

The layer type that the source accepts.

See Signatures for more information.

Mask

The amount of the new value to mix in with the original value. Higher values mix in more of the new value. Lower values mix in less of the new value.

The default value is 1, which means this node uses only the new value. See Mask for more information.

Spill Color

The color to remove. Set this to the color of the blue or green screen.

Tip

Click and then click on the layer to set the Spill Color.

Bias

The channel towards which to bias the result. When despilling green for example, bias the result towards blue (1) or red (0).

Note

You won’t see change in the output when the color is pure.

Luminance

The amount to brighten the despilled area. The luminance may decrease when you remove a layer’s green component, so use this parameter to re-add luminance. This ensures that the output layer has the same brightness as the original input layer.

Inputs

source

The original layer to despill.

bias

An optional per-pixel scaling amount of the Bias parameter.

mask

An optional per-pixel mask amount that’s scaled by the Mask parameter.

Outputs

despill

The despilled source layer.

spill

The despilled areas of the source layer.
