Houdini 21.0 Nodes VOP nodes

Glass Shader VOP node

A physically plausible glass shader.

This node type is hidden. It is no longer supported.
Since 14.5

Parameters

General

Roughness

Controls how dull a surface appears. A value of 0.0 results in a smooth surface with perfectly sharp reflections. A value of 1.0 produces a completely dull surface. Under the hood, this simulates microscopic bumps which become more pronounced the higher the Roughness, causing reflected light to be scattered more.

IOR

The index of refraction of the surface material.

Reflect Color

The color of reflections.

Refract Color

The color of refractions.

Attenuation

Enable

Tints light with the Attenuation Color as it travels through the object.

Color

The material’s interior color to be used for tinting.

Attenuation Density

The density of the interior, higher values tint more over a shorter distances.

Fake Caustics

Enable

Fake caustic refractions by making the object semi-transparent.

Transmission Tint

Controls how much the light passing through is tinted by the Refract Color and Attenuation Color.

Shadow

At 1, only the fraction of light transmitted through the surface (See kt input) is used for caustics, At 0, all light is allowed to pass.

A value of 1, which is more physically plausible, creates darker edges around object shadows. This occurs because when light hits an object at a grazing angle, less of the light is transmitted through the object and more of it is reflected.
