Houdini 21.0 Nodes Geometry nodes

Labs Quick Basic Tree geometry node

Generates a simple procedural tree for rapid prototyping.

This node procedurally builds a branching structure over multiple growth generations, with optional leaves and shape distortion. Branch count, resolution, bending, pruning, and overall silhouette can be controlled using high-level parameters.

The resulting geometry is intended as a starting point and can be further refined using downstream modeling, scattering, or instancing tools.

Parameters

Quick Settings

Growth Generations

Number of branching generations. Higher values produce more complex trees with additional branching levels.

Resample Resolution

Resolution used when resampling the main trunk and branches. Higher values produce smoother curves at the cost of performance.

Branch Resolution

Number of sides used to generate branch geometry. Higher values increase branch smoothness.

Radius Scale

Global scale applied to branch radii.

Leaves

Enables generation of leaf geometry.

Shape Distort

Amplitude

Strength of shape distortion applied to the tree. Higher values introduce stronger irregularities.

Element Size

Spatial size of the distortion pattern.

Height Mask

Controls how distortion strength varies along the height of the tree.

Branches

Overall Lift

Vertical lift applied to branches. Higher values cause branches to grow upward more strongly.

Prune Rate Per Generation

Amount of branch removal applied per growth generation. Higher values result in fewer branches.

Growable Area Per Branch

Start

Normalized start position along the branch where growth is allowed.

End

Normalized end position along the branch where growth is allowed.

Branch Bend

Min Bend Angle

Minimum bend angle applied to branches.

Max Bend Angle

Maximum bend angle applied to branches.

Leaves

Prune Ratio

Ratio of leaves removed during generation. Higher values result in fewer leaves.
