Labs Simple Shapes 1.0 geometry node

Creates simple 2D shapes.

This node creates simple 2D shapes. The base shapes are quadrilateral, triangle, n-gon/circle, and star, rendered as open or filled polygons. There are options for rounded corners, resampling the sides, automatic UV unwrap, and an option to cut a center hole with either an n-gon / circle or a custom shape.

This node replaces Labs Star SOP, which will be removed in Houdini 20.5.

Parameters

Shape

Shape

Type of shape created. The options include Quad, Triangle, N-gon/Circle, and Star.

Star Type

Type of star created. The options include Regular Star, Double Star, and Square Star.

Sides

Determines the number of sides the N-gon/Circle or Star shape will have.

Equal Sides

Assigns the same size for the edges of Triangle or Quad shape.

Set by Radius

Scale the Triangle or Quad shape with a radius instead of horizontal and vertical values.

Base

Horizontal size for the base of the Quad or Triangle shape.

Top

Horizontal size for the top edge of the Quad shape.

Height

Vertical size of the Quad or Triangle shape.

Radius

Radius of the Quad or Triangle shape when using Equal Sides, or the N-gon/Circle or Star shape.

Middle Radius

Middle radius of the Double Star shape.

Inner Radius

Inner radius of the Star shape.

Shear

Offsets horizontally the position of the top part of the Triangle or Quad shape.

Orientation

Orientation of the shape.

Translate

Location of the center of the shape.

Rotate

Rotation about the center of the shape.

Reverse Point Order

Reverses the point order of the shape.

Side Segments

Number of segments for the sides of the shapes.

Fill Shape

Render the shape as a filled or unfilled polygon.

Add UVs

Generates world scale UVs for the fill of the shape.

Round Corners

Rounds the corners of sharp-edged shapes.

Distance

Size of the bevel that is being applied.

Divisions

Number of segments for the beveled corners.

Round Concave Corners

Rounds the concave corners of the sharp-edged shapes.

Distance

Size of the bevel that is being applied.

Divisions

Number of segments for the beveled corners.

Round Convex Corners

Rounds the convex corners of sharp-edged shapes.

Distance

Size of the bevel that is being applied.

Number of segments for the beveled corners.

Hole

Cut Hole

Cuts a hole in the center of the main shape.

Shape

Choose between a N-gon/Circle shape or a Custom shape.

Path

Path for the object that will act as the hole shape.

Sides

Determines the number of sides the hole shape will have.

Relative Scale

Determines the scale the hole shape will have. This is a dynamic value with the maximum of 1 getting remapped to the minimum radius of the shape that the cut is being performed.

Rotate

Rotation about the center of the hole shape.

The name for the point group that consists of the corners of the shape.

Concave Corners

The name for the point group that consists of the concave corners of the shape.

Convex Corners

The name for the point group that consists of the convex corners of the shape.

Hole Points

The name for the point group that consists of the points of the hole shape.

Edge Groups

Flat Edges

The name for the edge group that consists of the flat edges of the shape.

Corners

The name for the edge group that consists of the rounded corners of the shape.

Concave Corners

The name for the edge group that consists of the rounded concave corners of the shape.

Convex Corners

The name for the edge group that consists of the rounded convex corners of the shape.

Hole Edges

The name for the edge group that consists of the edges of the hole shape.
