Labs Delight GSplats geometry node

Removes baked lighting from Gaussian Splats and generates an albedo attribute.

Since 22.0

This node estimates the local illumination of a Gaussian Splat point cloud then removes the estimated lighting to recover an approximate diffuse albedo. The algorithm is designed specifically for Gaussian Splats, adapting its neighborhood size to the splat scale while attempting to preserve local detail and minimizing color bleeding.

Several safeguards are included to produce more stable results, including chroma-aware illumination estimation to reduce color bleeding, preservation of small-scale shadowing, and an optional ambient occlusion pass to restore depth after delighting.

The result is stored in the albedo point attribute and can be viewed by enabling the Visualize Albedo parameter.

Parameters

Delight Amount

Blends between the original color and the computed albedo.

Light Blur Radius

Defines the base search radius used for estimating the local illumination. Larger values produce smoother lighting estimates but may remove more local detail.

Max Blur Points

The maximum number of neighboring splats considered when estimating the illumination field.

Spatial Falloff Sigma

Controls the spatial falloff of the bilateral illumination filter. Smaller values preserve local detail, while larger values produce smoother lighting estimates.

Edge Preservation

Edge Preservation Sigma

Controls how strongly color and luminance differences reduce neighbor influence during illumination estimation. Lower values preserve sharper transitions between materials and lighting regions, while higher values produce smoother illumination estimates.

Chroma Influence

Controls how strongly color similarity affects the illumination estimation filter. Higher values preserve boundaries between differently colored splats and reduce color bleeding, while lower values allow illumination to be averaged more freely across color transitions.

Ambient Occlusion

AO Amount

Controls how much estimated ambient occlusion is multiplied back into the computed albedo after delighting.

AO Radius

Controls the search radius used for estimating ambient occlusion.

Crevice Shadow Lift

Preserves local shadowing within cavities and creases by reducing the amount of lighting removed in highly occluded regions.

Visualize Albedo

Overwrites the Cd attribute with a visualization of the calculated albedo attribute.

Color Correction

White Balance

Adjusts the white balance of the estimated illumination before removing it from the resulting albedo. The selected color represents the light color that should be neutralized, allowing colored lighting such as warm indoor illumination or cool outdoor lighting to be removed more accurately.

Exposure

Adjusts the exposure of the resulting albedo. Each integer value represents approximately one stop.

Gamma

Adjusts the gamma of the resulting albedo. Values below 1 increase contrast by darkening midtones, while values above 1 lift midtones and produce a flatter result.

Saturation

Adjusts the saturation of the resulting albedo. Higher saturation produces more vibrant colors.

Advanced

Alpha Weighting

Controls how strongly neighboring splats are weighted by their opacity and scale during illumination estimation. Higher values give more influence to larger, more opaque splats.

Scale Influence

Controls how strongly the Gaussian Splat scale influences the neighbor search radius. Increasing this value allows larger splats to estimate illumination over a wider region while keeping smaller splats localized.

Light Color Preservation

Controls how much of the estimated illumination color is preserved during delighting. Lower values remove more colored lighting by neutralizing the illumination estimate, while higher values retain more of the original lighting color for a more natural result.

Inputs

GSplats

The incoming GSplats to delight.

Outputs

GSplats

The input GSplats with the computed albedo point attribute.
