Houdini 21.0 Nodes Geometry nodes

Deflate geometry node

Deflate regions of a mesh.

On this page
Since 21.0

Deflate mesh in regions specified by custom attributes. This is intended for, but not limited to, use as a helper node for the Muscle Transfer SOP to reduce fleshy protrusions in a skin mesh that should not be filled with muscles.

Parameters

Blur Iterations

The number of times the input geometry is blurred in the affected regions. This is the maximum amount of blur that can be applied to any given region.

Post Blur Iterations

The number of times the geometry is blurred in the affected regions, after all other operations have been applied.

Custom Collapse Target

The overall strength with which to collapse the affected regions onto the second input’s target geometry.

Mirroring

Average Mirror Sides

Ensure the output is symmetric by taking the average of the deflate applied on each side, and applying that to both sides.

Origin

The origin about which to mirror.

Mirror Direction

The direction along which to mirror.

Amount

Mask Mode

No Mask:

Affect the entire geometry by the specified Amount.

Scale by Attribute:

Affect a specific region with a mask attriute.

Mask Attribute

The attribute which specifies the current region to deflate.

Collapse

The region specific fraction of the Custom Collapse Target strength with which to collapse the points onto the second input’s target geometry.

Smooth

The region specific fraction of the Blur Iterations to apply.

Inputs

Input Geometry

The mesh to deflate.

Custom Collapse Target

The target geometry to collapse specified regions onto.

Tip

Use the Muscle Adjust Volume SOP with only your Input Geometry as the first input, and set the Volume Scale to negative. Then use this as your Custom Collapse Target to only collapse the specified regions.
